2013_02_09 - finally...

finally I was able to have a break while that little left in Arrifana was working. I really missed that pealing waist high longboard wave. sunshine and 4 hours in the water with a couple of friends. even here this isn't a typical winter day!!!

2013_02_06 - what a school this is!

about 5 years ago I introduced to surf a really good friend of mine. he started with a soft-top and had a very slow evolution until 1 year ago. in this last year he has been following us more and more to the several line ups of this amazing coast. now... I'm hearing stories that he has been surfing perfect double over-head lefts in the other side of the globe! we might not have perfect pealing point break waves every single day but, this coast line is without a doubt a wonderful school.

2013_01_19 - offshore playground

while the entire country was suffering from catastrophic howling winds and huge swells, a few found the perfect escape in some small little coves.
Jasper enjoying the offshore wind.

2012_08_11 - small summer days

a typical summer surf session for us.
only possible when the last rays of sunlight touch the beach. that's when the crowd goes to rest.

2012_07_22 - walking around

it doesn't matter where you are, once a day you need to step back and enjoy what surrounds you.
here, just feels better.

2012_07_15 - Jogi

this sunday, my good friend Jogi, the sushi men from Vale da Telha, called me for a lunch at his place.
beeing always a wonderful experience, I immediately said yes. only then, shamefully realeasing upon my arrival that it was his birthday!
Isabel and him made a wondeful typical japanese dish, with deserts and plenty of wine.
a gathering of 7 travel lovers from 5 different countries and, with ages between 30 and 70 years old.
amazing open minded people meeting in the end of this continent.
happy birthday Jogi.

2012_07 - what to think?

after much persuasion, my sis finally got a camera. not what I had in mind, her's has unlimited functions that give her the same result has I get with lots of time, hard thinking and a big dose of creativity.
she's learning camera history thru a vintage photography app. how to use filters with another app and a close result to true film photography with a different app.
apps for everything!
in the end, she's finally taking pictures, keeping stored her daily stories!

2012_07_08 - little bro

my brother was in town for a short little visit, and what a visit it was!
waterpark, coffees , barbecues, beers, surf, outstanding meals provided by our sister, motorcycle rides and a lot more! but true to the portuguese reputation, we mainly ate and drank!
without a doubt an amazing quality family time.

2012_07_04 - family time

mighty Tom preparing for one of his daily routines. showing his son, the tuffest kid I know, how balance is achieved for an outstanding way of life.

2012_06_26 - long days = more happy moments

we reached a time of the year that the days are longer, and therefore, our playtime extends substantially.
while everybody else is having dinner and thinking about how tired they are from a hard day working, Nelson Penteado does a short stop until 9 p.m. and goes to one of his playgrounds before heading home.

2012_03_21 - souvenirs

yeah... it's a simple seagull on top of a board in a crappy van.
well, for me it's much more than that.
- that crappy van was my home for a lot of amazing surf trips...
- those boards were magic, they gave me unforgettable moments...
- that seagull left two things for me:
the obvious poop and the only souvenir of the best surf day I had so far. this picture.

2 mt long lefts all morning long.
little nap in the sand after a huge and cheap snack.
2 mt long rights untill 8 p.m.
2 guys in the water all day, Bruno Castro and me.
no witnesses and no more pictures. just this one.

who surfed there, knows where it is and knows how it goes.

I will never forget that seagull.

2008_11 - surfing with soul

you may know him or not, but if you were in Arrifana in a good peeling day, for sure you have seen him.
he simply represents what surfing is all about, with him I learn to enjoy this lifestyle just a little more.
Jonny Bull, november 2008

2008_11 - another back from the box

a good surf session with a long time friend.
just like life should be every day. surf, sun and peace.
this was about 4 years ago. same lifestyle, just in another place.
